The traditional Ceremony of “Thyranoixia” (Official Opening, or “The Opening of the Door” to be precise) of our newly built Church was held on last Saturday evening.
The Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira & G.B. and the Metropolitan Bishop Georgios of Paphos presided over the Services.
Many members of the Greek Orthodox Clergy from London and elsewhere had taken part.
Hundreds of our Parishioners attended. Some people came from other places in London and even from as far as Margate, in order to be with us on that special occasion.
Members of the Diplomatic Missions of Greece and Cyprus also attended the Official Opening.
The Great Benefactor and Patron of our Church and Community Mr. Panicos Herodotou came from Romania in order to attend this special Ceremony. He was very emotional throughout the Service.
Our Church was dedicated by our Archbishop to St. Panteleimon the Healer, Patron of Medical Doctors and St. Paraskevi the Great Martyr and Patron of those in need of healing of vision.
Mr. Pantelis Demosthenous, the President of our Community, welcomed and thanked everyone and offered commemorative plaques to various people for their contribution and good services towards this major project.
