New materials

As we’ve stated before any kind of building, even the most important and sacred ones, apart from the beautiful and symbolic materials they use, they also need various other kinds of materials, in order to stand as completed and fully operable buildings.

In the case of our new Church we have now some new materials delivered to our building site.

The first two pictures show what is to go on the roof and be used as drainpipes.

The third picture shows the tubes to be used for the under-floor heating system.

Snow and works

Our area is still full of lovely and soft snow.

All around the new Church a white blanket has been laid for... good!

The predictions say that tonight there is going to be another snowfall which is definitely going to lead us to... beautiful white Christmas.

This is the talk, if not the dream, every year among all people in North Europe, isn’t it?

In the meantime, although the weather conditions are not good for working outdoors, various materials are being delivered on our building site.

They are taken and stored properly, ready to fixed when the weather permits again.

Inside though a completely different story.

Certain workers (electricians, carpenters and others) are continuing their work.

Preparations were made today for the concreting of the Sanctuary.

Today’s action

It is very busy today at our building site.

The brick arches that arrived yesterday are moved from outside into the Church and are being installed.

They are really very heavy. The hands of our strong workers as well as special equipment are used to lift them up.

The roof is currently being felt and battened and temporary waterproofing installed.

Some work is also being done at the new Church’s Office.

Red tiles arrived

A lorry has delivered today thousands of the red tiles that will go on the roof of our new Church.

They came in a nice red colour.

Red being a traditional colour for the roof of the Orthodox Church buildings.

Their type is: “Rosemary Classic Red Tile”.
