Many specialists

Everywhere in our Church and Community premises there are various specialists working today to bring our new Church and the new rooms of our Community building on the required level.

At the entrance of the Church yard, outside the Church building, inside the interior, on the staircase of the Bell Tower, as well as on the first floor of the Community Centre something is being done today.

The weather is complimentary today and that is a good sign from the Heavens.

Our workers are of various nationalities also; Greek-Cypriot, English, Irish, Romanian, Bulgarian, just to mention a few.

We are certainly very happy with the way the work is being done and we are very thankful to all workers involved in the works at our Church and Community Centre.

Lights in the Dome

The scaffolding was erected and then was dismantled yesterday.

The electricians worked for a few hours fixing lights inside the Dome.

The idea is that those lights will enlighten the icon of the “Pantocrator” (Almighty God) when it will be painted on the Dome.

Electrics on the first floor

Works continue for the completion of the extension on the first floor of our Community Centre.

At the moment electrics are being installed there.

New lights

Lights are absolutely necessary to any kind of building, especially to a Church.
In our new Church we had chandeliers brought from Cyprus for the interior.
For the external walls and balconies we use normal lighting that we get locally.

Mainly outside

Inside the Church today we had the marble specialists who were fitting the marble tiles on the floor. The electricians were also working in the Church Office:

Outside though there was a lot of activity. Many lorries brought today various materials. The brick layers were building on the Kingsbury side of the Church:

Others were digging in order to place the pipes, which are to be used for the various electrical cables:

All specialists in place, working hard to make sure that the Church will soon be ready to use for our worship.

Good co-operation amongst our staff and their hard work has produced some real miracles in our sacred project.

Theft in our Church

During the course of last night thieves had visited our building site. They disturbed many things in the Church, they’ve stolen certain materials (related to copper) and they maliciously damaged the electrical works in the interior.

Today our electricians reported the crime to the police and they came to inspect the area. It was decided that from tonight until the end of the works there will be a security night guard based in our new Church to make sure that no-one comes in there when the workers are not in their place.

Sanctuary... live!

Although it is a snowy day today, our Church is filled with various kinds of experts working in different projects here and there.

Arches are being fixed on the Facade.

Electricians have put about 1000 tubes in place. Carpenters are organising the Solea.

Electricians on site

A project like ours it is obvious that it needs electricity.

Electrical supply in a Church building is certainly a very complex issue.

It requires special expertise and many electricians to work in the various stages of the building process.

This is because we have to secure the correct fixing of the materials as well as fulfilment of the relevant requirements.

The electrician in charge of our new Church is a valuable member of our Community, called Gregory, an excellent professional electrician, with his company Gregory and Co.

Many members of his team are working these days in our new place of worship.

Bell Tower & roof

Although there was a short rainfall this morning the work has continued as normal on our building site.

It is nice to see to Bell Tower having been almost fully bricklayed today.

Carpenters also are on the roof placing there the timber frame.

This will be placed on the barrel roof and will certainly give a completely different impression on it.

The pitch roof, with the traditional red tiles on it, will obviously emphasize the cross shape of the roof and of the whole structure.

Electricians are also on the roof today, placing tubes there.

Electrics in our new Church

Electricians are working in the interior of our Church, both in the Nave and on the balcony.

They have been working at our Church for quite a while.

The company that has taken over this work is “Gregory and Co.”, owned by a Greek Cypriot called Gregory.

The traditional lighting in the Orthodox Churches is the candles as well as the oil candles.

In our monasteries this is still the case, but the Parish Churches are now using electricity.

Microphones and speakers

An important meeting had taken place yesterday at our new Church. Those present included the Parish Priest, Mr. Christos Orthodoxou, Mr. James Iyengar of Moonlite Productions Ltd, as well as some of our electrical engineers.

The main topic of our discussion was the microphones and the speakers for our new Church.

This is a very complicated issue which requires a lot of expertise on behalf of our experienced engineers and all those involved in our great project.

We hope to have everything arranged, as far as the sound system is concerned, within the next two weeks.

A tour around the building site

I thought of uploading today various pictures from all around the building site.

The brick work seems to be going quite well.

At the back of the Church, on the Sanctuary apses show very nicely.

On the Harrow site it is also developing rapidly, with two bricklayers working there.

On the Kingsbury site one bricklayer produces a nice brick-wall as well.

Inside the Church an electrician is doing his own work.

The roof of the building has been covered with waterproofing liquid material.
