The three Sanctuary apses

Intensive preparations for the concreting of the Sanctuary apses are well under way.

Although the weather conditions are far from good our excellent work-force is going forward and soon we shall be able to enjoy the apses at the back of our new Church.

They are always three, symbolising the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

The middle one, which is situated behind the Altar, is the wider one.

The other two, on either side, are of the same width and size.

On the top of the central one we usually paint the icon of the Virgin Mary, as the “Wider than the Heavens”, as she managed to carry in her body the boundless God.

Windows from all three apses will bring natural light into the Sanctuary.

@ Π.Κ.,
