Woodcarvings arrived

Today was another historic day for our Community. The new wood-carved furniture for our new Church, which were prepared for us in Thessaloniki (Macedonia - North Greece) had arrived this afternoon.

They have been donated especially for our new Church by Mr. Panicos Herodotou and his good family.

A whole lorry, full with our own wood-carvings, had travelled all the way from Thessaloniki to London, bringing from our Motherland these beautiful pieces of ecclesiastical art.

The lorry belonged to the company “Mondial” of Mr. George Antipas, who had offered the transfer free of charge for our Church and we’d like to take the opportunity to thank him very much for his generous offer.

They were many different pieces of Church furniture, to be used in our new Church.

The driver was Bulgarian and came right on the scheduled time, at 3.00 pm.

We had invited various members of our Community to come and voluntarily assist in moving all these furniture into the new Church.

Members of our Youth were also there and they were really very helpful.

Some members of the building staff had also helped.

They were quite heavy and as it is shown clearly in the pictures needed many people to lift them up the carry them.

At the moment we have placed them on one side in the Church.

Soon they will be put in their permanent place, in order to be used during our Holy Services.

After the work was done we had offered Greek coffee, tea and cookies in the garden area of the Vicarage.

Everyone was very pleased to have the opportunity of helping on this special moment in the history of our new Church.
