Many specialists

Everywhere in our Church and Community premises there are various specialists working today to bring our new Church and the new rooms of our Community building on the required level.

At the entrance of the Church yard, outside the Church building, inside the interior, on the staircase of the Bell Tower, as well as on the first floor of the Community Centre something is being done today.

The weather is complimentary today and that is a good sign from the Heavens.

Our workers are of various nationalities also; Greek-Cypriot, English, Irish, Romanian, Bulgarian, just to mention a few.

We are certainly very happy with the way the work is being done and we are very thankful to all workers involved in the works at our Church and Community Centre.

Railings in the Bell Tower

The Bell Tower has many steps that lead up on the Gallery as well as to the actual Bells and to the roof of the Church.

These steps have been recently marbled, as we had reported previously.

Today railings were fixed on those steps. As soon as this work will be completed we shall start using the Gallery.

Up on the Bell Tower

The ladder is not my strong point. But sometimes I need to get over my fear of heights and see from very close what is going on up there.

The Bell Tower looks very solid and beautiful now.

The bells are there, fixed and ready to be used.

Noel is working very hard in coppering certain parts of the Bell Tower.

Today’s works

Very busy as always at our building site today.

Different kinds of specialists are working all around.

As you enter the building site you may see the fixing of the front arches.

It is also interesting to see how the tubes are laid out for the under-floor heating system.

At a specific part of the wall, to the right of the interior, one may see the source (like a board for the electricals) of the heating.

Near the Sanctuary you can see how those tubes are covered by cement screed.

On the top of the building the specialists on copper works are placing the copper leaves on the Bell Tower.

Bells are being fixed

Schools are closed for Christmas and almost everyone is still on holiday.

It is the same for the engineers and workers working in our building site.

Today though we had three members of our building staff working in our new Church.

They were up on the Bell Tower and were fixing the two new bells in place.

Plastering and wood-work

We are almost there with plastering, which is progressing very well.

In the first picture we see the entrance of the Church, already done.

This part of the Church is called “narthex” and it is the western part of the place of worship, symbolising the “years before Christ - the years of darkness”.

Some wood-work is also being done today around the staircase of the Bell Tower.

All kinds of works

Amazing! So many different specialists are working today at our new Church.

Bricklayers are working on the facade. Others are up there on the Bell Tower, where the Holy Cross has now been fixed.

Copperlayers are working at the back of the Church, putting copper on the central Sanctuary apse. Plasterers and electricians are inside the Church doing their own work.

Bell Tower views

Special emphasis is given today to the Bell Tower.

Copper is at the moment laid on the Bell Tower’s dome.

Windows have already been fixed on it.

Its arches as well as the combination of brick and stone produce a really nice view of the Bell Tower.

The roof gets quite busy

It is really busy and crowdie today up on the roof of our new place of worship.

The red tile layer is fixing the tiles on the front timber roof.

He is working under the sun, but it is also quite chilly.

The crane is transferring stone up there, especially on the Bell Tower.

The main Dome is occupied by the specialists who take up and put in their place the copper leaves.

It is interesting to note that the copper started changing its colour already.

The windows

The first windows have now been fixed.

They had been here with us for quite a while, but their time has just come now to be put in place.

They were made by a company called BLAIRS, which operates up in Scotland.

They actually look beautiful and fit very nicely on both our Bell Tower and on various walls.

Soon they will all be put in place, thus securing the Church even better.

In and out the Bell Tower

The focus is on the Bell Tower today.

Plastering is carried on inside the structure.

Fixing of brick arches takes place on the outside of the Bell Tower.

12 weeks to go

Today I visited, for the first time after my holidays, all parts of our new Church building.

The welcoming sign reminded me of the fact that we are in the closing phase of the building process.

Twelve more weeks to go before we get the key and start using our new Church for the Community worship.

Then I went up on the roof and saw from very close the progress of the main roof works, as well as of the Dome and the Bell Tower.

The workers are operating at the moment on the very top of every part of the building. We should pray for their strength and well being.

Bell Tower & roof

Although there was a short rainfall this morning the work has continued as normal on our building site.

It is nice to see to Bell Tower having been almost fully bricklayed today.

Carpenters also are on the roof placing there the timber frame.

This will be placed on the barrel roof and will certainly give a completely different impression on it.

The pitch roof, with the traditional red tiles on it, will obviously emphasize the cross shape of the roof and of the whole structure.

Electricians are also on the roof today, placing tubes there.
