The crane is out...

Today was in some way a sad day.

We said good-bye to our “God” - the crane.

The “hand of God” is not staying with us any longer.

Its work has been done.

Thus, another crane (a movable one) came today to help dismantle the one which was placed on a concrete base in our building site a while ago.

Two engineers like acrobats were working up in the sky to break the crane into pieces.

Using poetical license let us paraphrase the great Greek poet Constantine Cavafis:

“There is no crane any longer.
And now, what's going to happen to us without a crane?”

We are all really grateful to such a technological tool which is of great assistance to human beings.

The "hand of God" in action

The crane is a great tool of modern technology, which has been of invaluable importance in our building works.

We called it metaphorically “the hand of God”, as it offers a powerful and very helpful “hand” to our engineers and workers.

We have collected a few pictures of the crane in operation.

The last two ones are from today.

The... hand of God

Quite frosty this morning. My car is covered with frost.

Temperature: 1 degree Celsius. But the operation at our building site continues.

We had a problem yesterday with the crane, which had broken down. It had effectively tied up the hands of our workers. But today is back in operation. I could only think of the crane as the... hand of God, which is of such a great assistance to all the works being done on our site.

The machines are obviously there for us people to use. They have been created by engineers who know exactly what is needed on building sites. In our case the first element is certainly our prayers, but the various engines are there to be used and make our life easier.

Modern technology

It was a nice and sunny day today, although the temperature was about 10 degrees Celsius.

The crane was a protagonist in the works today.

As we see in the pictures of this post it was transferring heavy loads of concrete to various parts of the building.

Modern technology is great. What would we do without it!

The Crane

The permanent crane which is to facilitate the erection of our new Church's walls was set up and put in place today.

Well, it's really huge!!!
