Inside the Church Office

In our new Church there is provision for a small Church Office, which is found on the right hand-side area of the building.

At the moment the Office is still under construction.

The electricians spend quite a long time in there in order to sort out the cables and the boards that will be fixed on its walls and the floor.

The Office will have two doors, one leading into the main Church and the other leading to the Car Park.

It will also have two windows, which have already been fixed.

Church Office covered

The Office attached to our new Church has now been covered.

It is a little room to the right of the entrance.

This will be used by the Priest and the various Committees of the Community.

The main electricity board of the Church will be fixed on a wall in this room.

Windows are in place. Soon we will put the doors as well.

Today’s action

It is very busy today at our building site.

The brick arches that arrived yesterday are moved from outside into the Church and are being installed.

They are really very heavy. The hands of our strong workers as well as special equipment are used to lift them up.

The roof is currently being felt and battened and temporary waterproofing installed.

Some work is also being done at the new Church’s Office.

The building of the Office continues...

The Church Office is taking shape as a separate room slowly - slowly.

Today we can see the window as well as the outside door.

A look of the Office from the Church’s roof gives another view of it and of its size.

Our previous Project Manager, Andy Hogan, came to visit our Church and ourselves today and took also some materials that he needed at his new work place.

It was nice to see Andy again and to catch up with some news, related to work developments as well as to family matters.

The reasons for having an Office

The modern city Churches have these days an Office, in order to facilitate in the best possible way the pastoral needs of the Parish.

It is usually a small room attached to the actual Church and it is there where the Priest will meet with Parishioners, to discuss their needs. He will also store there the records of the Parish (Baptismal, Confirmation, Marital, Funerals etc.), as well as the official correspondence.

He will also issue there the various Certificates that his Parishioners usually need.

When there are people in the Church and there is need for a private conversation or even Confessions the Priest uses the Office for those purposes.

It is an appropriate place where the Parish Priest will receive his Archbishop, or his colleagues – Priests, when they come to visit him and the Parish. He will then offer them hospitality there, by the means of a traditional Greek Coffee.

The Office may be used by the members of the Church Committee as well as by the members of the Ladies Committee or even the Youth Committee when needed.
