The view from the Gallery

The scaffolding has now been taken away from the Nave.

Therefore we have a clear view of the interior of the Church.

It really looks massive from the inside.

These pictures taken from the Gallery show the Dome and the lights that comes in through its windows.

It also shows the nicely done Sanctuary apses.

An interesting feature is the three-fold window of the Gallery, which brings some rich lighting inside the Church.

At John Doyle's HQ

Today our Parish Priest, Fr. Anastasios D. Salapatas, and the President of our Community, Mr. Pantelis Demosthenous, had visited John Doyle’s HQ at Hertfordshire.

They were received by the Chairman of Doyle Plc Mr. Stefanos Stefanou OBE and they all three discussed the progress of the works at our new Church, which is actually being built by Mr. Stefanou’s company.

Mr. Demosthenous kindly offered to Mr. Stefanou an icon of our Patron Saint Panteleimon, the Great Martyr and Healer.

Elections today!

Elections Day today in Britain. Although the works in our new Church continue, the elections dominate the interest of the people today.

In our area (Harrow) we vote both for the General as well as for the Local elections.

Our Community Centre is offered, as usually, to the local Council in order to be used as Polling Station.

The reasons for having an Office

The modern city Churches have these days an Office, in order to facilitate in the best possible way the pastoral needs of the Parish.

It is usually a small room attached to the actual Church and it is there where the Priest will meet with Parishioners, to discuss their needs. He will also store there the records of the Parish (Baptismal, Confirmation, Marital, Funerals etc.), as well as the official correspondence.

He will also issue there the various Certificates that his Parishioners usually need.

When there are people in the Church and there is need for a private conversation or even Confessions the Priest uses the Office for those purposes.

It is an appropriate place where the Parish Priest will receive his Archbishop, or his colleagues – Priests, when they come to visit him and the Parish. He will then offer them hospitality there, by the means of a traditional Greek Coffee.

The Office may be used by the members of the Church Committee as well as by the members of the Ladies Committee or even the Youth Committee when needed.
